Thor
Thor is the dominant male in the zone 2 around the biological station. His mate is Mamasota although he is quite a bit younger than she is. In 1994 when Charles Foerster started the Baird's Tapir Project Mamasota's mate was Flash. In 2001, Flash was found dead from a possible snake bite. After about a year there were several tapirs in Mamasota's area hoping to take Flash's place. One of these tapirs was Thor. Thor was able to out compete the others and has been Mamasota's mate ever since. Their first offspring was Nepal in 2002. Thor can be recognized by all his scars. Like the one on the middle of his face that you can see in his picture.
